For Buyers

Congratulations, you’ve found a home you love! Now you want to be sure it will love you back. The best way to do that is by hiring an experienced home inspector you can trust to make a thorough inspection of your new home and present the findings clearly and concisely.

We’ll inspect your home as if our family will be living there.

Spyglass is the outgrowth of a family construction and property investment business where we undertook the responsibility to inspect properties in which we either had a significant financial interest or in which our own children and grandchildren would be living. As a result, the inspection process we developed had to be of the highest quality because we personally had so much at stake in the outcome. This same care and exacting standards are a hallmark of Spyglass and we have been doing it for more than 50 years.

Inspecting to a higher standard, one day and one home at a time.

As an active member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) we follow and often exceed its Standard of Practice. It is for this reason that we only perform one inspection per day rather than the 2 or 3 most inspection businesses squeeze in. When you trust us with the inspection of your new home you can be assured that we are totally focused on you and will not be rushing to get to our next appointment.

We keep it all in perspective.

Our unique service has taught us that no house is perfect. They all have some flaws. The key is to discern between what is serious, requiring a licensed contractor and what can easily be repaired by the homeowner or a skilled handyman. As part of our process we’ll help you tell the difference. The point is that except for issues that pose an imminent danger to the safety and welfare of your family, most findings do not warrant walking away from a home you love.

We stand by our report and we stand by you.

We’ll provide you with an objective written report that will summarize our findings and rank order any problems. For example, we sometimes find issues that might not require immediate repair but should be monitored for further deterioration. We explain to you how to keep an eye on these items and as part of our service, we will return for a free re-inspection of them in 6 months. If the issue has stabilized – great. If not, we recommend corrective action and if you ask, we can suggest local contractors who can assist you. We only refer to professionals who have worked on our own homes and have proven to be skilled and reliable.

When other inspectors are off to the next job we’ll be by your side seeing you and your family safely home.
